Why would interviewing Hitler be interesting? What, do you want to hear their philosophical arguments and his personal justifications behind the Final Solution?

ANYWAY... I gotta have four dinner parties, behold:

    BC
    Socrates
    Caesar Augustus
    Sun Tzu

Caesar Augustus was really the title adopted by all Roman Emperors post Augustus. So do you mean Julius Caesar or Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus - who of course became Augustus. Sorry, Classics pedant I know, but I studied both of them at uni and am still fascinated by them. Augustus gets my pick though, along with Agrippa (his right hand man and a military genius).

Rule 3: All answers must be in Latin.

You mean Greek, the language of the Civilised ancient world :)

    Anyway here's my BC three
    - Queen Nefertiti
    - Cyrus the Great
    - Archimedes
  • No one from BC, can you imagine it?

" let me just dim the lights a bit"
    "what are lights"
"you know, lights, bulbs, powered by electricity"
    "electricity?"
"yeah, you know, powers everything, er, like that washing machine"
    "washing machine?"
    "get out, now..."
  • Oh and I'd never have Hitler as a dinner guest, he was a VEGETARIAN....shudder...
  • To all the detractors of my first (invalid) dinner party - wouldn't you want to meet those people? Talk to them about their motivations and their lives? OK so they're not good people, (you could see Wolf as a good person and my interest in him would be more about anecdotes) but the really awful ones are more interesting to understand.

Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus, naturally. The one that the Month of August is named after. Amazing political tactician. The guy who arguably started it all (ok Julius Caesar, proper, laid the foundations) and subsequently (with varying effects) influenced how we live to this day...

  • ok, how about:

BC: Julius Caesar, Mark Anthony, Cassius. Probably only need to bother with a starter then sit back and watch the scrap!

Present: Danny Wallace, Bill Bailey, Tamsin Greig (mmm...)

Good call, actually both of the Triumvirates would make entertaining viewing:

    Julius Caesar, Pompey, & Crassus

    or

    Octavian, Mark Antony & Lepidus.

Lepidus would have to sit in the corner though, and have the kiddies option. Poor old Lepidus.

    BC and before eh?

Two cavemen from Borneo and a prophet from Judai then, just so's I could put a DVD on and spook them. I'd either be offered up as a sacrifice or become their all-seeing god.

I just think that there are a whole host of other, non-genocidal, megalomanic ex world leaders to choose from. You've already named a couple of others.

Neil Hanlon borrowed £250 from a friend of mine and never gave it back. So could you remind him? Ta!

The BC thing, I would be tempted to take the paleo-anthropological approach and have cro-magnon man, neanderthal man and, ooh a Briton in the early days of the Roman occupation.

    First party
    1. Tutankhamun(sp?) - Just to find out what really happened.
    2. Cleopatra - Supposedly the most beautiful woman in the ancient world. Need I say more?
    3. Judas - I reckon his story would be pretty interesting.

    Second party
    1. Stephen Fry
    2. Hugh Laurie
    3. Rowan Atkinson

If I could cheat a bit and add Tony Robinson to the second party, that would be great...

Dinner party 2 I would, being single, invite Ann Dudek, Drew Barrymore and Holly Willoughby (who are also all single) and see how lucky I can get :)

You won't have much joy with Mrs Holly Willoughby, she's married to her producer hubbie, Dan Baldwin and due to become a MILF in May. Nice fantasy though 10/10
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Joseph - The guy who believed his pregnant wife had been impregnated by God. I always wanted to hear his story

Eve - Again get the untold story. Also if Adam and Eve had two sons, I want to know what happened next.

Zeus - or any of the old school Gods no one worships anymore. Talk about having it all and losing it

    3. George W Bush

Alistair Campbell was being interviewed on the radio a couple of nights ago and said that, on a personal level, Bush is a very nice chap.

But, then again, he also said that he (AC) used to agonise over whether he got his facts right...

Apparently, she had a nose like Gonzo from the Muppets. I think Mark Antony was just bigging himself up. What went on (the Roman) tour, stayed on tour. His mates couldn't disclose, therefore, that she was actually a complete grockle pig.
