Rides from Cardiff

Hi

I'm new to road cycling and would just like to ask anyone in the Cardiff area if they know of any decent roads to go out after work. i.e. when the light is not so great.

The reason I ask is that most of the roads I have tried will see me having to re-true my wheels on a weekly basis!

Thanks

I think there's a club called Cardiff Ajax or something. Any routes on their site?

Also, check with Cyclopaedia on Crwys Road in case they orgainse their own shop ride.

How about out to Wenvoe via Cowbridge Road (bit busy, mind?), Barry and back through Sully and Penarth, via the marina or town, down Penarth Road into town?
    FCN 2-4.

    "Exactly."

Because the track at Maindy is unuseable at the mo Ajax have been hitting the road on Wednesdays.
Their route is Maindy to Coryton., Tongwynlais, Taffs Well, Treforest Ind estate, Treforest, Climb to Tonteg, Down power station hill to Treforest ind estate and reverse outward bound route back to Maindy. Its about 17 miles and the total route is lit.

    Hi there

What time does the ride start? I may be in Cardiff midweek in the next 2-3 weeks and it would be nice to get out in the evening.

    Cheers.

Meet outside the Leisure Centre at 7.00pm. Usually about 10 riders go out.

What's the pace like on a Wednesday? It looks like I'm going to miss next saturday so wouldn't mind a run if it's not too quick!

    Not fast, about 16 - 17 mph.

I may well see you there then. I'll be on a Cube Aerial if I make it.

Edit: Before I invite myself, is it ok for non-members to tag along?

Non members very welcome! Speak to Bernard who will be 'leading' the ride. Tell him that you spoke to Brian on the cycling+ forum as I wont be there tomorrow evening. I will be at Ninian Park watching the Bluebirds! Hes a bit miffed that I wont be taking part in the 3 up TT at Cwmcarn Sunday, I will be at Ninian Park again !!
