Hi all,
Hopefully just a quick question...I'm pretty new to mountain biking, been on local routes around north west Manchester and been up to Gisburn a couple of times. I've got a week off work soon but don't have any plans so was thinking about heading up the the Lakes for a couple of days, get some rides in and stay over in a youth hostle.
So...does anyone know a couple of good 'all day' rides in the southern parts of the Lakes that would be suitable for a beginner?
Thanks in advance and hello from another newbie!!

Try popping into the big shop in staveley www.wheelbase.co.uk they should be able to advise you of some stuff down there, the only route/place I know of is the Northface trail and the other trails at Grisedale.0

There's loads of stuff in South Lakeland to ride to be honest.
Grizedale is the obvious choice initially but there's other stuff, I like to ride around Cartmel Fell which is a short run but quite good fun. Then there's Claife Heights which is also good for beginners.
Try and call into one of the local bike shops for some routes such as Wheelbase, or Bike Treks in Ambleside.0 -

would recommend getting a copy of "lake district mountain biking" from VG guidebooks. Loads of trails in there and is a fairly recent publication. It grades the trails so you can choose for yor ability. hope you have a good time0

Not that new, and while fun is just a trail centre. Better natural riding round there than found at a trail centre.
We'll do it again, but basically its sommat to do when on the first afternoon we arrive before a long weekend there0
