    Some of these climbs look eye-wateringly painful.

    It's the first time I've ever seen Haut Var. Not a bad little race.

    caught the last few Kms i love finishes like that uphill through the towns great stuff, a bit like some of the finishes in Tirreno . Tommy Voeckler timed his attack to perfection though needs to drop the naff baby celebration.

    Actually, I'll edit that - I've just seen l'equipe. Voeckler took GC and the stage. Now, if he could just win a TdF stage I'm sure he'll die a happy man.

    I wish the ATOC organisers could be made to watch that coverage. A regional French telly production and they didn't miss a beat of the action, cut judiciously where necessary and didn't put dropout into the live broadcast.
