I bought one of those new about 20yrs ago. You certainly got a good deal. Just clean and lube your hubs, bottom bracket and headset often as they are not quite the quality of their Shimano counterparts. The frame is bombproof though. Oh, and check the tightness of the bottom bracket every so often, they can come undone at the worst time. (Facking Italian BB threads  )0

Thanks for that my local bike mechanic has just given it the full going over adjusted a few things and say's it is now spot on the gears on the down tube take a little getting used too though lolMy bike

The Bianchi I owned had a groupset made by the Japanese Suntour company. I can't remember if it was called Quattro or some other group. It should say Suntour on some of the components somewhere. Suntour competed directly with Shimano for a long time and I think it was they who perfected the modern day rear derailleur design and indexed shifting. I believe they went out of business a number of years ago do to falling behind in the developement race.0 -
pritty much yes they rested on their lawrels and paid the price. shimano went indexed and the rest struggled to catch up, my old red bike, had a load of fricton suntour gears, lovely old bits but fricton is pain, though i've kept it on the front derailer as i can trim any anoying chainrub.0

Where is this LBS? Might be worth the cost of travelling if there's bargains like that!0

I'd get a cup of coffee for this one - Suntour history:

An absolute steal old chap!!.Indeed bloody well bagged.I thought I did well my my little Italian Job,a 52cm Bianchi Gold Race 600. Reparto Corse(2000-2001,I believe),hardly any use judging by the tyres, but they had perished. It had sat in a private warehouse in the Northwest for 5&1/2 yrs,I did not need much arm twisting to part with £195.00.Everything on it was original spec'.New Vittoria Rubino rubbers and off like a rocket.Only a few days later on ebay two went for in excess of £650 quid, they are becoming a bit sort after.I think Bianchi is the oldest cycle manufacturer in the known cycle world, this could have something to do with it.Steel with nice brazed lugs is the new Aluminium with ugly welds removed. My Bianchi is Aluminium with very nice smooth tube joins and a tear drop downtube.Don't sell it,ride it and enjoy a little bit of history.Hi,I am returnig to pedal power after a longish period of drying out my Vega+nail on plates. My first serious bike was a 1937 Hetchins Curly(track frame)My current rocket is a Bianchi Reparto Corse,Gold Race 600.A nice little Italian.0

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bia ... e-ec012112Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0 -

Yes - Audi as in the car people. As in the Audi Quattro. Which was a car they made in the 80's.
The Quattro components on this bike, however, were made by a company called Suntour. Pre-dating Shimano, Sram and Campag.
The Audi reference was a joke.0 -
£6.99 think that small lay out will be well worth it and possibly finish it off thanksMy bike
