Anyone done this? Do i need the Hope tools or will I be able to wing it with bits of wood and such?

Have ordered the axle kit but don`t want to have to shell out another tenner for tools unless absolutely essential.

Any other tips?

I have converted two Pro II hubs from QR, one to 12mm bolt through for Maxle and one to 10mm bolt through for DT Swiss RWS 10mm.

Very easily done without the use of the specialist tools. Just a rubber mallet, bits of wood, vice and some grease.

I think Hope have video tutorials on their website for the hub overhauls, and possibly the axle conversions.

While you've got the hub open be sure to check the Pawl springs in the freehub. As I have had to replace one in each hub as it had snapped. Very cheap to buy from any good LBS. Although I believe if you talk to Hope nicely you may just get some free in the post.....

Thanks for that, is it as easy as they make it look in the video?

    Just about.
With a little extra swearing and hammer action.

It really is as easy as the very well experienced hope mechanic makes it look using a brand new hub to demonstrate.

Depending on the age of your hub be prepared to hit it a little harder as the bearings don't tend to come out as easily, especially after nearly a year of use in our fantastic weather...

LOL, it`s a fairly new hub so "hope"fully (sorry) should be reasonably straight forward.

    Cheers
