It will be a good training run for anyone doing the Rydale Rumble later this year.

  • I used to venture into the NYMs a fair bit and have been meaning to get back over there for a while now - this would seem to be an ideal opportunity to do so... Can't say 100% that I'll be able to make it, but am definitely keen, esp. as it takes in Rosedale chimney, which is pretty much top of my 'to do' list!

This IS a hilly ride but you do NOT have to do all of it, the ride was designed so that you can cut out at Helmsley or after Bransdale or Farndale and then rejoin at Nunnington. I've booked the weather

  • Right, it looks like I've got the all-clear from management to do this one. Suppose I'll have to get of my arse and do some vaguely hilly rides in the meantime to avoid embarrassment on the day!

Be good to see you, as I said above I'm not expecting everyone to do all this ride so come and join us for as much or little as you can.
P.S. I had to get the pass stamped as well

Keep us posted please John. Not sure if I can make it. I am sick at the moment. I could not climb on my bike let alone a hill.

I was out last weekend and rode with Clifton CC who are putting it in their runs list as are Ripon Loiterers. The road up Bransdale has been closed for a few months due to a landslip so I'll have a ride up there to see if it's passable or not, if not we can detour but I'd rather not as it's a lovely dale.
hope you get well soon John T. be good to meet you at last.

Not going up Bransdale would indeed be a bit of a bugger, as I used to go round it fairly regularly and was looking forward to seeing it again. Nevermind though; I'm sure a suitably lumpy detour will be devised!

Just been up Bransdale and there has been a landslip, hence the road closed signs, but it is passable although a little more care is needed due to debris on the road caused by lack of use, I don't see any problems.
Our route has another road closure at Rievaulx but that too is passable on a bike.
Training going well so I'm really looking forward to this ride.

Just to confirm that I'll still be there tomorrow; really looking forward to having a pop at the three big climbs enroute and meeting some new folks.

    See you at 9 tomorrow.
