While out riding the other day I started to notice a cluncking sound from my BB, I assume its the bearings. I've not much experience with external BB's, can you replace bearings or is it wiser to replace?

The BB that comes with Enduro Expert is a "Shimano M762 XT custom for Specialized", can't find this model on Shimano website, only the 770, same thing?

I want to fit an MRP XCG Triple chainring guard aswell, anyone fitted one?

Any advice on a good BB that will fit the Enduro, take another years hard pounding, is maintainable and has threads long enough to allow the XCG Triple to be fitted would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

If you need to replace the BB have a look on the Specialized website or in your manual. They will give you the size of the BB and you'll then be able to order the correct one from any online retailer. Alternatively use your LBS.

The clunking could also be the suspension bearings. These thing take quite a hammering.

If your BB has gone you can normally feel it. Grab a pedal crank and try 'wriggling' it. There should be no sideways movement.

If it is the suspension bearings - hold the saddle & try lifting the bike (just a few mm). If the saddle moves, but the wheel stays on the ground it will be the suspension bearings. You can also put one hand around each bearing while trying to lift the saddle. This will help to find which ones have gone too. There should be no movement in the bearings while lifting the saddle.

bottom brackets come as one sealed unit. the one on your bike does anyway. make sure you get the right size of the bb shell, and the right axle length. other than that any shimano octalink one will fit.
I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

Looks to be a HT2 type crank and BB, so you just need the cups/bearings.
