Can someone convince me that I'm not being ripped off?
Having purchased the above 50/34 chainset from Ebay and discovered 5 teeth profiles in random locations that look different from the rest (sheared) that the seller is correct and this is normal for a brand new chainset?

just for info.
some pics of shimano MTB rings. clicky for bigger images.
as you can see the ones at the top are different.
if you are still unsure post pictures.
But yes the teeth shape changes to aid shifting."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

My FSA compact chainring had some teeth on it that looked like the tips were broken off.
I didn't notice it when it was new and when I did I thought that I had trashed the ring.
However, after counting the spaces between the "broken" ones and finding them the same I decided it was a "feature" or "new innovation".
