Shimano Tiagra Question

My winter bike runs a Tiagra 52/39 double.

I live in the pennines and fancy a 34 compact inner ring.

Would I just be able to do a straight swap :?:

    There may be an issue with the front mech but otherwise I would think things should be OK. If I'm wrong (which I may be) I'm sure someone will put me right.

    to the back Frank...

    smallest ring on a standard Shimano double is 38

    if you want a 34 you need a compact chainset (110mm bolt circle diameter, or BCD)
