Hi
Been looking at some Full-Sus frames and have now come up with a shortlist to suit my Fox 32 140mm RLC Talas forks
- Orange Five
- SantaCruz Heckler
- Yeti 575
Anyone had any experience of the above, or no of anything else??
Intended bike use is for XC/AM with occasional trips to trail centres.
Cheers

Three dam good bikes/frames all can take upto 160mm fork for the hard stuff.
Regarding AM riding alot of people say it dont excist but in my eyes these are
some of the best frames to do AM/Trail/XC And Downhill with the 160mm on.
When I say Downhill I mean ground covering and no Drops/Jumps over 4ft.
Oh and good for Alpine riding too!!!!
Especially if you have the Fox Talas 160mm fork on, being you can ride uphill
at 100mm and 140mm gives it purfect balance to the frame and for trail riding.
And 160mm for the big stuff.
I know the Orange was fasterr uphill than the Heckler this was due to head angles.
But Orange have altered head angles to use the same triangle part frame for the
Alpine 160, so things may be equal now.
The Yeti when I was looking at it. Has been changed for the better but have called
the original 575 another name.
This new frame is ment to be a real cracker too.
I know the Orange 5 has been voted top frame and trail build but none of the
other frames/bikes have not been tested together
Best thing is to take these out and find the stuff you really want to ride
and give them a good thrashing.
If you want to know more then please ask!
mmmmmmm I have not been biased :?0 -
Also a commencal meta 5.5 frame has come into the equation!0
-
Possibly too much bike, ibis mojo.......
that's something special0 -
Good bike but did not beat the Orange 5 in Last test by MBR mag
Has far as im aware you cant fit a 160 fork up front on the Meta 5.5
and the Orange frame is stronger than the Meta 5.5
The only reason I say about the frame taking upto a 160 fork is for future
upgrades and max joy out of the ride0 -
If by max joy you mean lugging round unecessary travel....
OP, are you going to want a burly bike or do you fancy something fairly whippety? I really don't see much point in being over-biked.0 -
I have no intention of putting a 160mm fork on the frame0
-
You have to try them out.0

Have you got an MBR test to back this up. AFAIK MBR have been nowhere near the 09 Meta 5.
FWIW I'd buy either the Heckler or the 575 as I consider both more boutique/ individual than the Orange. Both would match your 140 forks perfectly.0 -
Well last year I demo'd around 15 bikes including the 5, Heckler/Blur LT/Nomad and a 575 (to name but a few). I got the 09 575 and couldn't be happier, it does take some tinkering around to get the optimum setup for rear shock but once thats sorted its a flyer. Got Talas 32 150 QR15's on the front (didn't want the extra weight of the 36's) and the Talas for 09 is far sweeter than older incarnations. Light frames too, my XL comes in a 27.4 lbs.0

The Fox Float 32 RLC 15QR I have on my Yeti are very plush and suit the frame well.
575 all the way0
