Around now is pretty good if you can pick up a 2008 bargain, if you're after an 09 bike then there's probably no good time given all the price rises

And for DH £1000 will not be enough, even for 08 bike.
For other disciplines you can have a nice bike.

DH is not really my thing.
I was thinking about buying a british built bike,
    any ideas anyone?
  • Get yourself an On-One build if you want british and value for money...although most frames will be made in taiwan!
Orange bikes are never really reduced at any point...but i guess if you can find any 08 bikes out there in your size you will get a bargain. Or wait til july/august for one of this years?

Think i'd trawl the web to find an 08 bike for value though :)
pain is temporary..... but it does hurt!

    Hmm well
The sales begin in Oct. If you want a particular model or size with a small discount then that is a good time

The the shops don't bother with anything else until after xmas

By jan / early feb the real bargains are there. But choice of sizes/models can be limited.
Also this year there are less deals around. The reason for this is that the price of cycling stuff (which is all imported) is due to steeply rise later in the year. So I guess there is no incentive to buy in more stock at a higher price and a lower margin

Although I'm sure that some cycling shops will go to the wall during the recession they have benefitted greatly from the cycle-to-work scheme. Another reason for not seeing any crazy discounting
