Kona coiler

Hi folks, Im riding a Kona coiler with a Fox vanilla rear shock, the problem is when things are a bit ragged and the shocks really working there seems to be a knocking noise coming from that area. Ive had all the bushings bolts and bearings changed but its still there, does anyone know if this is normal for this bike.I wondered if as the shock is just a basic piece of kit that maybe its just the damping system being a bit noisy or something. Hope someone can ease my fears! Thanks

could be anything, which bushing/bearing have you had replace?
shock and/or links.
is the tyre catching?
are the cable outers hitting the frame seat post?
the mech on the chainstay?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hi thanks for reply. I have had all the bushings and bearings replaced in all pivots and shock, there are no cables rubbing and the tyre is well clear of anything. The noise isnt super loud but is audible when your hooning downhill but if you drop the bike from say a foot above the floor onto its wheels it doesnt seem to make the same sound, this is why i wondered whether it could be made by the shims in the damping system or something when the shock is working hard.0

simple thing but may be something overlooked; is the shock bolts done up tight enough?I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

Shock bushings/ top hat spacers? Often cause a clunk when worn.0

Hi Konanige - Did you ever track down the cause of the noise? I realise this thread is probably dead, but I've got the exact same problem you described back in 2009. A Kona Coiler that clunks when the rear wheel takes a sharp hit - I've changed the shock bushings with brand new ones from TF Tuned, and the frame bearings are all new. I even tried putting a 1" nylon washer at each end of the spring coil as I'd read that can fix a noisy fox shock clunking against the adjuster ring etc, but it made no difference. Did you ever track down the cause?0

You might be better off PMing him, this thread is not only dead, it's decomposed.I don't do smileys.
