What is your usual Sunday ride?
Today I'm about to head off to my fave route of Beckenham, West Wickham, Keston,(sometimes going on to Downe) Bromley etc, through a couple of woods and country lanes.

I've been doing this ride for ages and never tire of it, I just love the way the scenery goes from concrete and brick to open fields and woodlands, plus the changing smells from exhaust fumes to damp earth and leaves.

I usually bring a few apples to feed to the horses enroute and in the summer I'll stop for a light lunch in the corner of a field surrounded by birds, butterflies and flowers :) yes FLOWERS..lol

No the sun did not come out to play but my old pal the headwind was giving it large :(

My back brake stuck on every time I used it and I somehow managed to lower my stem by 1cm which is enough to almost put an end to the ride.

    :(

yes was a fair bit of it, around richmound park in the end i just went for a quick spin (stopping for a coffee) around the park, wasn't too busy as weather wasn't great and said head wind, still a fair number of bikes around and cars etc. went up hills fine including nightingale lane, which considering i have a compact and a 12/27 cassette isn't that much of a shock.
  • Had to go to Waterstones in Gower Street London which is close to my commute route and so decided to take the more scenic river and canal route. River Lee up to Hackney, slight detour into London Fields cycles to drool over the bikes and book mine in for a service and then into Islington to join the Regents canal before back on the road.

Sadly I got lost in waterstones trying to find the medical section and ended up buying two books on bikes, having a coffee then getting what I came for before the return journey. Not fast or hard enough to be a training session but was nice to get back on the canal and river routes - not done them for a while and it was them that got me on the bike in the first place.

I don't really have a "usual" Sunday ride, but I try to get out in the morning for a couple of hours at least.

Today I took a 28m loop from Carnmoney to Whitehead, a half coastal / half hills road loop. It was fine out along the coast, but there was an unexpectedly tough climb up into the hill section (glad I had the triple!), I ran out of food and water and had a fairly stiff headwind on the homeward leg. Not too pleasant!

Taking a break before tackling the tough climb into Ballycarry.
Today is a good day to ride

I go where ever the club goes normally.

Managed to snap a chain, break a helmet, rip an assos jacket, scuffed up my chorus shifters real bad, ripped my bar tape, and got loads of road rash today

i rarely go out on a sunday but this morning i went out for a 20mile loop round chippers to sweep some of the cobwebs out of my legs. i tried to get straight on the bike from some laps in the local pool but the wet/cold sent me home for my longs!

very enjoyable ride, apart from taking the bike down a wet and rutted lane by accident.

Moonio, what route do you take? My MIL lives in Beckenham but I've never taken the bike out round there so wouldn't know where to go?
