LH-drive-disc4.jpgLH-drive-disc1.jpg

Fixed gear on the disc mount with a disc brake. Looking at the pics, I'm going to need a front disc hub spaced to 135mm, rotor, disc mount cog with spacer kit.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Very nice! Is that one of the Halo hubs?
  • Kinda weird! Chainwheel on the left but transfers on the chainstay read correctly, so no 'negative-flip- print ....?

Seem to remember Sheldon built a frame with a Left side drive train.

Wonder what effects on performance having it on the left would have

nothing, some \BMX's have left hand side drive so the riders don't bash there chainring when grinding.

Had an email back from Velosolo aka Londonfixie
To be honest I am not familiar with how it was done - the customer sent us some pics (in the gallery) but how well it worked and the exact set-up I am afraid I do not know. It is fairly easy to set up a LH drive alone but combining it with a disc brake is tricky and may not be the best idea.
    .

Seems it was a tarting bike up excercise with no practicallity at all :-(

  • Presuamably it works out lighter, but you'll need to space the disc out from the fixed sprocket by a bit. Hope make the spacers, and the frame is a surly.

I'd be worried about the pedals unscrewing though if you're running the cranks backwards.

BB7 MTN though, not drop bar then.

Edit: Doh, It;s a fixie isn't it, 2 digit mountain lever on the top poking out a small break in the bar tape... or small grips on the drops.

must have had the cranks re cut for the pedals or has just fitted it for looks.

chain and disc together not my idea of fun.

OK, I've waited all day to post this in the hope that a) the thread would reveal all as people posted, or b) someone else would show themselves as the dumbass, but no, it's Cori's turn...

What on earth is it and what does it do??

some one has taken a front hub and done the fixie kit to it. IE added the cog. they have then added a spacer and then fitted a d disc brake and flipped it over so that it is a LeftHand Drive set up.

why I bet because he/she could.
