New front wheel advice..... what do I need?

Hi all,
My bike has Avid Juicy 3's on and my front wheel was stolen the other day. So Ive been to the LBS and bought a new wheel today, DT Swiss x450 with Deore disc hub. Before I fit, I just wanted to check and see if this is a decent wheel for what I do, mainly trail centres and XC, the odd little kicker but nothing major. Any experiences would be appreciated.
Also, the wheel comes with a silver sidewall for using rim brakes which I dont like. I couldnt afford to buy a new wheel set so it has to look ok with my black alexrims stock back wheel. Can I paint the rim black, and if so, would normal paint or smooth matt hammerite be better?
And finally....
I need to buy a rotor, but was thinking of upgrading the front rotor to the same size I had on my hardtail which was 203mm. Is this recommended on Rockshox SID 2008's? If its okay, can I get any 203mm rotor, or is there a dependence on the brake type? Also are the spacer brackets for the caliper standard or brake type specific?
Thanks for any guidance!

Decent wheel - a bit heavy, but durable if you keep the hub well serviced.
203mm too big for that SID. Want to stick with 185 max. You need the suitable adaptor for the size rotor you will be using.
As for th rim, I'd leave it, increase resale value!0
