thinking of buying a merida matts trail 500-d anyone rode or seen any reviews of this bike?

    I have the Trail-700D which I think has the same frame but a bit better component spec - I really like it. It's pretty light but stands up to a lot of abuse (I'm 15 stone and tend to bash through things rather than skillfully float over them :p ). I've changed most of the bits on mine (wheels, RH shifter, bar, stem, saddle, seatpost, chainset & forks - unfortunately there wasn't a frame only option :p ). Running an 09 Revelation on the front now and the frame copes well with it (and is warrantied for it).
    I guess the downside is it's aluminium so not a whole lot of compliance if you're doing all-day rides but I've not found it a problem so far (inc. a couple of 4 hour Quantocks trips).
