Can anyone recommend me a new radio station cos I am sooooo bored with the same tunes and adverts on Absolute. Doing jobs around the house with no one to talk to and I going out of my mind!

  • Radio 2, XFM, or if you have the Virgin broadband thingy they have various music streams, so no adverts, DJs etc.

Better still, get out of the house and into the Surrey Hills with the MP3 player on shuffle - the weather's fantastic. 8)

Good luck with the job search btw

If you've got a DAB kerrang radio is good or its on sky and t'internet.

I spose there's one advantage of living near brum it's on FM up here.

  • If you have a DAB radio, then I would recommend The Arrow. There are no adverts, no annoying DJ's, no news reports, no weather, just music of the rock variety. About the heaviest it gets is some Led Zep & Jimi Hendrix though. Makes a refreshing change from listening to DJ's who have got too much to say for themsleves.

  • I really like a DAB station called ourkindofmusic, no irritating talk, old (like 30's and 40's) music, no ads. I find it excellent accompaniment for pottering around the house, and/or cooking!

Radio 2 in the daytime is out for me. I spend hours plotting just exactly how I'm going to murder Jeremy Vine...

I'll have nothing said against the Vine - he's turning into a good host on the Eggheads.

+1 for Q and I'm a closet TYG in the morning (dammit just outed myself).
  • If you have internet radio give Lastfm a try, just enter an artists, tag or genre and listen. I listen loads and have have found some really good music this way

My colleague-no-longer always gets in before me, puts Radio 2 on, which is fine, then goes for lunch just as Jeremy F**king Vine starts up. Two hours of people phoning in and getting in a tizz and screaming at each other is not my idea of entertainment.

Is it Jerermy Vine I'm listening to now? Nooooooooooooo, cannot bear this.

Q was alright, and will also give some of the other suggestions a try.

    Cheers all

I need DAB. My digital radio at the mo is the radio channels on the freeview box. Not ideal.

But I've not got much money and prefer to spend what little there is on bike stuff. Dilemma!

    Last FM is great.
  • A new search for songs and build playlists has come out called Spotify, need to register and all that, and after every 5/6 songs an advert pops up. But pretty impressed so far

Is that Kevin and Bean? I used to listen to them on my commute when I lived in LA. Pretty funny especially when one of them said live on air that he thought the Crypts were a bunch of pussies!

Visa ran out so had to come back or marry someone. Plenty of v pretty girls down in Hermosa where I lived but they were nearly all mad as a box of frogs hence here I am!

As you say it was a good place to live for a while, surfing was 40meters from my front door and in 1.5 hours I could be snowboarding at Big Bear or Snow Summit.

  • Any of the GTA vice city radio stations, they're a great laugh to listen to. They can get a bit repetative though
