Hi. I need to remove my chain, but after inspecting it i dont see any obvious jointing place, so do i just split it anywhere with the splitter tool? sorry if it seems a daft question but ive checked various tech articles and some mention special chain links but not what you actually do whether you have one or not.

If its a sram chain you can split anywhere, except see above, the same with KMC, and sedis. But with shimano you'll need to buy a new joining pin to replace the one you took out.
