The screws over some riders a bit!

Does that mean no Giro for the Killer?

you'd think they would sort it all out before racing season starts so everyone knows what they are training for...

...but last year Astana got a last minute invite to the giro so LPR might still make it to the start line somehow

No Feillu, Moreau or Vogondy - the French supporters are going to be happy.

There is still scope for the teams to qualify. It seems the UCI has judged some teams as not being worthy of the Continental label because they haven't complied in full for the Bio Passport. But they can get their candidacy in before March and be included.

This risks another UCI-ASO spat, as I'm sure the ASO want Agritubel in their races, especially the Tour.
  • Is the implication here, that these teams are carrying the 30 or so riders who's values were brought into question?

Agritubel.......other than Moreau, who would have thought?
I'll bet Pat can't stop grinning. ASO said no Tour without a valid passport.
Prudhomme hoisted by his own petard.

    There may be trouble ahead........

It seems that it's just administrative, the application submitted by Agritubel was deemed unready. If they get their papers back in order, they'll be in.

    No Vuelta for EZ either.
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.
  • On the bright side, Barloworld and Simeoni's CF have been approved, so might well get that Giro call.

Because he's a previous winner who will put on a better show?

  • Both the ASO and RCS are committed to the bio passport. Both set the bar on doping with their exclusion of Astana, last season.
They can't backtrack, this year and ignore the new competition standards.
I can't help but think that the UCI might be inclined to find problems with certain teams paperwork and data.
Beneath the surface, the power struggle, having shifted tack, continues.
I hope those teams guaranteed a wildcard get things sorted by March and all get to compete.

The irony for me is, had Rock Racing the cash and were not worried by the constraints, they would have got the licence.

This guy might bring entertainment but he's a swindler and the presence of him (and his "asthmatic" teammates) robs more honest riders of a chance to shine. If you guys want entertainment, tune into WWF

    World Wildlife Fund?

Simeoni has been found guilty of doping. Di Luca, lets remember, has not.

    Ah, now I get it, it's because you're pro-Di Luca, not anti-Simeoni.

I am not anti any riders i have time for them all to some degree, i just like some more than others. As for Simeoni he seems to be having a resurgence late in his career good for him.

  • Seems that the teams that missed out failed to "donate" the requisit funds to the UCI.
Agriubel and Navigare are going to cough up roughly twice the original figure (about €135,000).
This should enable them to access the "Historic" events, but not the other Pro Tour races.
A lot of money for a chance, certainly in Navigare's case.
No news so far on A&S and LPR.
    Their deadline is March 11th.
