Tourmalet open /closed

Hi
anyone any idea how late in the year you can expect to be able to cycle Tourmalet. I will be there mid October

    Should be OK then but nothing's guaranteed - I climbed it in the last week of October 2005 and although it was baltic descending the La Mongie side it was warm enough to enjoy a drink outside a bar on the way down.

    I remember being in the alps for the tour in july and the galibier was closed with snow ! Anything is possible !

    We had very heavy snow the week ending the 28th of October this year and probably from that point onwards the Col would have been either closed of extremely difficult.

    Tourmalet usually closes at the end of October and reopens at the middle/end of May.
    paddy at www.velopeloton.com is a good source of info as he is right at the bottom of the climb.
