At certain times of the day the site is unusable, particularly evenings. Is everyone having similar problems or is it my laptop?

If lots of people are suffering then the sever could do with upgrading.

This forum is becoming unusable, it is ridiculous, it's worse than Singletrack world for falling over

Sort it our Bikeradar, you're supposed to be the biggest, and the best, prove it get it sorted out!

Fair do's Nick, it has been discussed to excess and as you point out, "for some time", but it seems nobody is doing anything about it as it has been this way for months now. Perhaps if you moderators and admin start getting fed up with lots of posts popping up, one of your tech guys might actually do something about it, heaven forbid?

oooh - I thought Andy B was one of the staff! Nevermind. I have a few issues with it, but not all the time, if I get the gateway message thing, I just turn it off and come back to it later, its not the end of the world if it doesn't work all the time. I can't imagine the people who can fix it are just sitting there laughing either.

its not just me then - i've been having a problems lately too (and on the Bikeradar live website at a similar time of day to problems on BR forums). Doesn't happen on other sites so don't think its my computer or laptop.

  • I seem to have a lot of problems at home on my mac, like i can't alter my profile or add an avatar. But at work things seem fine. Could this be because I'm working nights at the momment or does anyone else suffer from using a mac.

We've (well, the tech people) have been working on this since the new year. It's not a simple thing to sort out, and it'll take time. But we'll get there...

This is a great forum though, it's worth persevering with on the odd time it's being a pain.

As a techie myself, what is it that is causing the problem - just out of interest...

Is it server / bandwidth / database related?

I agree it is a good forum :)

Seems to have been better this week, with only one 'article not found' instance at this end.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Ah, Mr Toast was complaining of that last night. I've only ever seen the 'Article not found' page.

Do the other Future publishing forums suffer from the same issue (Games Radar, etc), or is it just the Bike Radar one?

    Apparently just BikeRadar.

The 503 error is a new and exciting variation on the exisitng forum gremlins, at this rate I may have to defect to Singletrack world  .
