I want to go get some things from the city center in Manchester, but I don't want to walk takes too long so thought I'll take my bike, usually I could just go look for a place to lock my bike up but it's raining too much out there.
So anyone know any places in the city center to lock my bike up? preferably around the arndale center.
Yes I have tried googling but that came up with nothing.
Thanks
Will.

a lamp post..?0

My wheels could still get stolen, I'd prefer somewhere for bikes.0

remove both wheels, put the chain through them, then through the frame and then round the lamp post. sorted..
The only risk is that the thieves may be in a helicopter, and so could lift the entire assembly clear of the lamp post...0 -

Where are you going in Mcr? I take my bike into shops where I can. If you are going on a weekday, I work near the centre (about 20 mins walk or 5 mins on train) and can secure your bike for you. PM me if you wantM.Rushton0

I live just outside the city center near the CIS tower so if it's a 20mins walk into the city center from where you are there would be no point as it's only 10mins for me.
But thanks anyway0 -

I've walked between Victoria and Piccadilly stations (right across Manchester city centre) scores of times and that takes 20 minutes max.0 -

Yeh, but walking would affect his average speed0 -
I guess I'm just been lazy, but when carrying shopping in a backpack on a bike would be much easier than holding plastic bags that cut your fingers off.
Bit off topic but does anyone know what they are doing on the CIS Tower :?:
Wierd rolls hanging down the sides of the building and they where projecting something on one side of it yesterday whatever it was, with what looked like similar font to what is on money notes.0 -
You could always put the shopping in the backpack and save your fingers ?0

There are specific bike racks between M&S/Selfridges and the Arndale (sort of opposite Pizza Hut).
Good lock or two and you're done. I leave my bike in the city centre regularly and have never had a problem.0 -

They're projecting a dandelion onto the side nearest Victoria Station. It's part of the build-up to the official launch of the 'the co-operative' brand next Monday (2.5 min advert taking up the whole of the ad break during Coronation Street, gig at the Great Northern warehouse, etc). It symbolises the spreading of the seeds of co-operation, apparently.0 -
Piccadilly Gardens has some bike lockup facilities - or you could lock it to a fence at the bust station there. Nobody nicks bikes when they are in such extreme open view to the public like that, unless at night. I sometimes do it and get people shouting at me every time when I'm unlocking it, as if I'm trying to steal it or something... That's good security.0
