I am doing the Etape Caledonia but cannot find accomodation in Pitlochry. I am thinking of Crieff, but wondered if anyone could advise me on whether it is possible to cycle from Crieff to Pitlochry.Thanks.

you can, but it is not easy. You'd be knackered by the time you got to the start. Have you thought about camping at Pitlochry? Last year there were quite a few tents in the car park field.

If you are determined/forced to ride, you'd take the Sma' Glen to Dunkeld and follow the A9 on the adjacent minor road to Logierait. Then you have to ride the last 5 miles of the course to the start, but that is one of the hilly bits.

Do NOT take the appealing looking road from Amulree to Aberfeldy - it is one of the worst hills in Scotland!

Blair Atholl is 7 miles up the road from P. and a lot nearer that Crieff, worth a try.
