The latest here in the Netherlands is that Guus Hiddink is to take over. He has a real pedigree, if anybody can get Chelski back to winning ways he can

Don't get me wrong, I love cycling but I love the loyalty of football and supporting a club. Can't get that from cycling. I'm also starting to get tired of all the drugs cheats. At least footie seems to be clean.
  • You can of course combine football and cycling. Our former flying winger Arjen glass legs Robben used to cycle to training every day. What a lad.

There are also a few players in the squad who I'd quite happily tell to get on their bikes Norman Tebbit styleee

Panic reaction or decisive decision making - depends on where you sit but I was sat in the East Upper on Saturday and the football was awful. We were about to go into freefall and something had to be done as the body language and performances for the past month and a half have been poor.

For those who mock Kenyon (and by god it's not hard) it is worth remembering that his new team sponsor and shirt deals were the best in the league (at the time) so odious toad he may be but he also appears to be pretty effective at what he is paid for.

Anyway, roadie or hybrid / helmet or not / what's the best light.... 8)

Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
  • Actually that bikeradar 'no image found' thing IS more interesting than this news.
  • Tsk Tsk you lot really should get out more. More to life than comparing groupsets :P

Frankly, the Prem is no more than a soap opera to us true footie fans, who support their local lower league club.

But anything that urinates on the bonfires of all those new-found fans that Chelski have ticks SO many boxes...

It's just a hill. Get over it.

What about the long term fans though eh? I suppose I never thought I'd see Chelsea lift the prem so whatever happens I'm grateful for the last few years to a certain extent.

Oh and @ Chingford - we should never have sold Robben, he's banging them in for Real these days...

biondino - assume that's Don as in Wimble-, rather than the McDons of olde MK

jashburnam - if you're old blue, that's fine, it's new blue I have a problem with. And we are of one mind on Robben, I was actually saying the same thing to a colleague not ten minutes ago...there's no creative spark, no 'surprise' player in the Chelski squad now...

It's just a hill. Get over it.

You're correct Sam - and much as I'd like the MK filth to be spiralling into non-league and out the bottom, it seems unlikely, this season in any case. Still, we're 6 points clear at the top of the Conf South so it's not impossible we could be a league team soon...

So Hiddink is the new Manager, just saw it on BBC News.

You know Chelsea disgusts me. I consider them to be the single best example of what everything wrong with football these days.

I get the impression that none of the board, backroom staff actually like/love the club - they're all in it for the money and with the exception of Lampard and Terry none of the players actually care that they're playing for chelsea. To them it could be any club as long as they get as close to six figures after tax as possible.

I'm an Arsenal fan. Have been ever since Ian Wright joined!

Ian Wright joining Arsenal was the action that got me initially interested in football. I was what? 11.

    Rubbish, we Jose'd the title.

Actually Chelsea's spending since Roman is in line with 'pool and Manure and Real and Barca for example. City are proving that money isn't everything.

This is compared to what? Spending over an equal amount of time? I disagree. Also those clubs have mostly recouped their losses, Chelsea are still filing around £250million losses each year. If they were any other business they wouldn't be allowed to operate.

so Citeh to win it next year then???

Throw all the money in the world at it and it doesn't guarantee you anything, the players have to gel. Jose did a good job whatever you think of him. When the owner starts sticking their 2p in that's when it goes to pot as alluded to earlier with Hearts

Or not spending much at all and losing out on CL next year... Now that's going to sting like a bit<h

Chelsea bought Jose as well. Wasn't he on an obscene wage as Manager?

Again I disagree, let's have a look at debt and loss:

    Chelsea:

    Loss before tax £76m
Debts £578m Owed to Roman Abramovich
    Interest payable nil

    Arsenal:

    Profit before tax £36.7m
    Debts £416m
    Interest payable £26m

    Manchester United

    Loss before tax £58m
    Debts £667m
    Interest payable £82m

    Liverpool

    Loss before tax -£22m
    Debts £350m
    Interest payable £30m estimated

Liverpool's parade owe a further £185m which Hicks and Gillett borrowed to buy the club and will make the club service. The pair have since borrowed a further £165m to fund the club, but are nowhere near building the new stadium they promised when they took over.

So Chelsea aren't the only club making a loss... and of course their debt is interest free.

    @DDD

You do know that football is a professional sport, the players are bought and sold and paid salaries?

IIRC the last team not to buy the title were Chelsea in 1955, being the last team to win with an amateur player in the team

Apparently you're back on form! Did you know that 86.7% of internet facts are made up?

EDIT. Only fair to declare that I am a Chelsea fan in despair at the foolish way our club has been run,
“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!
