They've covered this a couple of times on the show now (I think the two links are different episodes, apologies if not). The young girl from Pompey was using a really naff lock tbh

Funnily enough Devon and Cornwall police are coming to my village next week to mark bikes, wondering if I should now bother after seeing above?0

Personally I would do it if its to be left in a publicly accessable area for any period of time. Its just another tool in anti theft tbh.
You do also need to take some photos of your bike, identifying stuff like change of wheel/tyre etc and take down the frame number (preferably a photo of that as well). The more info you have on your own bike the better.
I sent an email to the Inside Out team about locks too. I mean a good lock will work wonders if there are naff ones on other bikes near it or it is a waste of their time trying to remove it.0 -
The lock was a shocker.......0
