Pace Rolling chassis build

I'm thinking of buying anew bike (was pretty much sorted on the Marin Mount Vision but have now started thinking about rekindling my love with Pace. Started having a nosey at the 405 Rolling Chassis but I'm lost...I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between the kits - I'm not looking for a jump-fest bike but I'm also not looking for some race-like whippet spec. I want it light but strong.
I'm also thinking I'm wanting the Pace forks as well so what kit should I be looking at? I'm also thinking the machine will be finished in XT kit but need to alo think of seatpost and stem/bar stuff.
Any suggestions for rolling chassis and finishing kit - ideally I'd like something that weighs about 27lbs - but not that weight if strength is compromised.

Pace do not make forks as such these days. They sold the forks off to DTSwiss. So you can sort of get a pace fork by getting the DT forks but its not really the same thing. Then just pick the wheels, Frame colour and frame size you are after.0

I would go for the DT Swiss XMC forks, they match the suspension travel at the rear (130mm) as far as the wheels go, I would go for the EX 1750, they're relatively light weight at - you guessed it 1750grams, and they're really quite strong.
The rolling chassis price for this lot is £2400ish, it'll look sweet though.0 -
Thanks for the advice Great Ayton - unfortunately it is exactly the same advice as the stuff I have now so I'll need to ask again for recommendations...the forks were Pace forks but now owned by DT Swiss..same difference really they use the same base design as the Pace forks so those would be the ones I would be after (as in part of the Pace Rolling Chassis package).
Uncle Peter, thanks for the advice...I do like the idea of the bolt-thru axle...well those seemed easy enough to work out - just need to work out prices for the kit...Rolling Chassis is about £2400, XT groupset? Not sure...seatpost and stem/bars (reckon £150), tyres (think they would be tubeless if possible) about £70-ish; saddle? Not sure - £35? Grip - loc-ons of some sort - £15.
Looks like it won't be much cheaper than £3500...bloody hellsfire, I best go sell a kidney!!!The Quest for Singletrack is Endless...0 -
Well looking at the spec and building the virtual machine, if I go XT from Merlin and Race Face kit (Atlas AM) from CRC, it looks like just over £3k...I'm going to have to wake up...no way can I afford that, but always worth noting just in case I get lucky and land a bonus at work! The Quest for Singletrack is Endless...0
