Which Bike?

Hope someone can give me some advice.

I am moving from commuting to off road and am looking at a new bike. My options of choice at the moment are:

1 - Specialized Rockhopper 09 currently selling at (more or less) £600
2 - Focus Northern Lite 09 currently on offer £525 (from RRP of £750)

Any suggestions / help welcome.

Both much of a muchness really. The forks and the gears are better on the focus, and it's cheaper at the moment.
What you have to weigh up is, the specialized can be got from an LBS, where you'll get aftersales servicing, help etc. Whereas the focus is mail order only, so you lose all this.
If you're technically minded and know what you're doing then the focus is a great bike and a good deal on wiggle at the moment [over £200 off and £50 of free stuff]. If not then i'd reccomend going to your LBS, trying to find what you want there and enjoy the benefits they offer.

Have a look around at some 2008 bikes, some great bargains at the moment, look for Specialised, Trek etc. from some of the Bike Shops like JE James, Evans, leisure lakes etc.
