Sora chainset upgrade help

Friend looking to upgrade Sora chainset on his 09 Spez Allez
What would people recommend and what do we need to look for when checking compatability?

Neither massively expensive, but tbh I wouldn't upgrade to anything much more expensive and would think hard about upgrading as it may not make that much difference to the bike. If the current chainset is a hollowtech, i.e looks like the picture with no bolt on the drive side it will be a straight swap.
