  • I hate to read about these storys. my heart goes out to the family and all those that knew her. they are talking about a memorial ride over on londonfgss. if something comes off then I urge all you people in london village to make the effort.

oh and get writing to your MPs, the last time I did (there was a couple of cycle deaths here in Mancester in the space of a few weeks) i recieved several letters back, 2 from my MP, 1 from an inspector in GMP road policing unit and one from Vernon Coaker MP the Minister of State responsible for policing, crime and security. you wont see imediate changes but the ball has to start rolling somewhere. drivers need to appreciate the responsibility the have.

Found out that she was a good friend of my sister. :(
  • gmmitche, I've only just heard about this story this morning, and really gutted to hear about the loss of your sister. My thoughts are with you, your family and all of her friends.

For those of you how haven't seen it, it's worth reading the thread on London FGSS forum.

    Stay safe.

    +1 to that!

They are also arranging a Memorial Ride and a collection with the agreement of Eilidh's family, see the banners at the top of the main page.

    Hi there.

I just wanted to say hello and tell you how very sorry I am about your sister's passing. I just joined this website today to contact you and send you hope and prayers. I was there the morning of the accident. I ride a bike and was just crossing the street as the accident happened. I saw your sister there and she was trying to speak to the Police and the ambulance teams. They were being very gentle with her and they cleared the area very quickly of people watching in order to give her as much privacy and dignity as possible.

I'm 46 years old and have been a daily cyclist in London for nine years. I pretty much stopped riding my bike that day.

I have eight brothers and sisters and can't imagine what it must be to lose your sister.

I pass that stop every day and I have watched many people read the tributes to your sister. She must have been an amazing person.

I hope some day, as the years pass, that your grief and the grief of your parents and other family members will be les painful. God bless you - and your sister.

It's always tragic to see stories of this kind, especially when the person is 'one of our own'

my thoughts are with the family at this time.
Officers don't run, it's undignified and panics the men

    Kevin,

Thank you so much for your posting.
If anyone else was there, or knows anyone that was there please please do get in touch. I am finding that everyone has their own tiny extra bit of info about the event. I think our 'family' forums are sometimes more efficient and productive than police investigations.

Every contact with any one who was with her, when I could not be, is a help.
Many thanks for all your support.

Kate Cairns (sister of lovely Eilidh)
Will be there on the ride.
