If this snow doesn't stop I might not be able to get out.

I know!!! and those are the doors to my conservatory which have a step down to the garden, it's getting stupid now and no signs of it stopping any time soon, where is all this water going to go?

This was my commute this morning, 07:30ish, but it's much better now.

The only times I haven't ridden this week has been when the schools have been closed or I've been working from home. It's never actually as bad as it looks
SC61.10a: FCN 3, with clip-on guards for winter
Uncle John: FCN ?? knobblies, or 'fat' slicks n guards

If you haven't tried these things, you should.
These things are fun, and fun is good.

Wow, didn't realise there was THAT much! The Metro reckons that there's more on the way next week and temperatures will stay low for the rest of the month.

Finally managed to get youtube to like my ride in the snow.

Could have done with different gearing but TBH the only time the back wheel spun/slipped was when I was stood up and not sat on the saddle.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Well, now you gents know what it's like here, every winter. Off course I am equipped for it from the start. :)

I run tyres like this all winter and have no problems in snow up to 50 cm:

Take care in the snow and hope it goes away soon!

Faired recumbent trike is the answer!

(Only of course if you are not in a snowdrift higher than the trike!)

I'm sick to death of the snow and ice now.

Looking at doing my first commute on the bike tomorrow.
8.5 miles of canal towpath. The mileage should be ok, I'm just wondering if I should ride it first in decent weather or if that's being to cautious!

The other thing I am not sure about is whether to go for 1.75 hybrid tyres or 2.1 mtb tyres.

    Decisions decisions!

Biked. Roundabout. Snow. Off. Ouch. Car behind did stop in time.

Am posting this the Monday after, having just offed again on ice (see 'Black Ice' post). Am totally scared of cycling now  .

It's just a hill. Get over it.

    Welcome back SecretSam!

Unless, of course I'm being dull and have just missed your posts!

Don't worry, the conditions have been pretty poor and I've been off a few times in the last month. It does knock your confidence, especially if there's even a remote chance of ice.

This weather won't last forever. We'll be back in the lovely driving rain before too long

    That gave me motion sickness!
What do you ride? Presumably the camera's on your helmet but it seems very low...?

Mounted on my bars. Others have commented on the height of the camera compared to other videos and either I've angled the camera downward more or the light reflecting off the snow gives that effect. The bike in question
