scott genius rear shock set up problems

hi guys,
i had my bike 4 years after coming off a hardtail. i love it and thought it was the best bike i had ever been on. never touched the shock set up, i thought the bike shop had it set it up for me. anyway about 3 weeks ago the rear shock bottomed out, so i bought a shock pump, pumped it up to the correct pressures in the positive / negative chambers. what a difference, it's amazing, i thought it was good before, but it's fantastic now. BUT, on the lockout setting it doesn't completely lockout as it did before. i've tried different pressures in each chamber and can't get it to stop. is this normal as the manual says it disengages once it sees a bump. how do i get it to lock out properly?
cheers

If you haven't touched it in 4 years, the seals may have gone. Take it to your nearest LBS or Scott service centre and get it serviced.0

What shock is it?0

If it is an equaliser then leave it at your local scott service centre.0

Hi there
I also started experimenting with the settings after having the Genius for a while and also had an issue with getting the lockout to work at one stage.
Check the cable tension leading from the lever to the shock as the rear shock is in the lockout mode when the cable is not in tension and the higher the tension the more the shock is in the "Open" position.
Good luck and let me know if it works

hi jerome,
funny you should mention that, i did alter reset the cable, so perhaps that's what it is. will try it later today

Hi,
After messing about with my genius shock a lot I can tell you that its all to do with the cable tension, nothing to do with the air pressure. The cable tension pulls the metal lever down to turn on the shock, releasing the tension locks it off.
Out of interest, what air pressures have you dialled in pos & neg ? What weight are you ?

I too have a problem with my Genius rear shock. Mine is only a month old. While out on Walna Scar on Sunday all of a sudden the shock wouldnt lock out & the back end seemed to be bouncing while I was going along. Even my mate behind me could tell something was up.
On inspecting the shock it seemed to be sagging too much so i turned the rebound screw clockwise which made it extend & the lockout started working.
Maybe the lack of air at the top of Walna Scar made me a bit light headed but for some reason & decided to turn the rebound back to it original position. In fact the dial was that stiff I couldnt turn it with my bare hands & had to use plyers. On turning anti-clockwise the sag didn't adjust. Now the shock doesn't seem to lock out very well & on measuring the sag the shock (from top bolt to bottom) is too long.
I'm 75kg & positive chamber is 5.1 & negative is 9.7 approx.
Anyone any suggestions?0
