I just bought a battaglin 3cime carbon frame and fork. I need a seat post (and clamp) and the mounting hardware for the front derailer.

Does anyone know the diameter of the seat post (I read somewhere that it is 31.6mm).

I also don't know if the front derailer is a clamp or E type.

I emailed the company but have received no reply.

I sure would appreciate any help.

I have a Battaglin RS1100 with the TreCime fork - it takes a 31.6mm seatpost, but I have fitted a shim and a 27.2mm seatpost - my frame is very stiff and the smaller seatpost has a a little bit more 'give' - there's also more choice in 27.2 dia posts.

For the front mech, you can either get a 35mm band-on mech, or get a braze-on mech with a 34.9mm band-on mount (see link). FWIW E-type front mechs are for MTBs and MTB mechs will not fit most road bikes - the rear wheel is too close

Sorry this is off topic but does a thinner seat post really make a difference to the ride? And are there any draw backs with using a shim? I use a 31.6 but would be interested in more comfort.

I've never tried a 31.6mm post, but experience tells me bigger posts are harsher. The Battaglin is very stiff and I wanted a post with big setback - I got an FSA K-Force with 32mm setback for a lot less than an equivalent 31.6mm. The seatpost shim is made from acetal which means it won't suffer from corrosion either - many carbon frames have an aluminium insert in the seattube and corrosion / sticking is quite common - one heavy twist of a stuck post can wreck a frame, seen it done a few times.
