I've had my 2008 trek fuel ex9 for a year now and loved every minute of it!! It's raked up a lot of miles - and so I'm thinking it's time to get the rear shock serviced.
My questions are - where is the best place to send it to to get the work done? and even though I am very pleased with the performace of the bike, should I get i try getting it 'tuned'? what are the benefits?
ps can anyone explain to me what mechanically happens to the shock if they 'tune' it?
cheers people

Isn't the Trek Fox fork tuned by fox for the EX model?? [is 130mm for a start]0

That's what I was thinking - so there will probably be no benefit to a tune?0

the function of the PUSH Factory Tuning System has a smoother transition from the 'Platform' to the bump absorption mode giving a lighter, more speed-sensitive, less indexed feel. The platform is also varied to suit specific bike designs & rider weight/style unlike the off-the-shelf Pro-Pedal. Finally, unlike the Pro-Pedal system, the low-speed rebound circuit can be changed to match individual needs without affecting the high-speed circuit. This allows increased low-speed rebound damping rates, which aids in controlling excessive movement, while at the same time allowing the shock to respond more quickly in high-speed situations.

I'm another who'll say TFTuned.
What Tim Flooks doesn't know about suspension just isn't worth knowing.
If you choose the PUSH upgrade then the majority of your fork/shock internals are changed for higher quality items and the unit is matched to your weight/riding style.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'll try the tuned option!

I'm slightly sceptical of some shock tuning. I think you need a good understanding of how it works and what you want so you can tune it to you, not what someone else thinks. Of course they may fit more quality parts or resolve some known issues, ie make it smoother or the damping less liable to spike (or smoother transition).
Most people can get a good set up with the exisiting adjusters.0 -
True, but you get a cool sticker on your fork leg!0

sigh.... I remember when I used to get cool ones from the dentist.... not any more! the tight git!0

I just donated blood and they gave me THREE stickers for my car, a badge, a wee tiny calendar AND a Tunnocks teacake!

I thought it was bloody Ted Hankey the way she stabbed the needle in my arm, but it's all for a good cause.0

You have my sympathy mate... last time I gave blood she was a right bruiser with hairy arms.... I almost considered chinning her one.... but I didn't fancy my chances0
