Vapour? :shock:0 -
Plus the capscrews to hold it on I hope they're titanium and not steel.. think of the excess weight!
I know! Its a real worry...but then, they were part of the bike so don't count.
Actually, I got the P-X cages for cosmetic reasons really (which is probably worse) as I have a P-X carbon bike, I mean, its the natural choice!0 -
you could probly get all of these specilized bottle cages for the price of some of them carbon ones and they aren't that heavy

Speaking of bargains - recently bought a new 2004 Ksyrium SL Rear wheel for £99 - 840g - not sure about the crosswinds though...0

The tacx plastic cages are as light as carbon and a fraction of the cost. Or just ride without cages for ultimate weight saving !0
-
I'm sure it's not the cage which is heavy, it's the bottle, or rather it's what's in it.
Half a litre of water weighs 500g, 20 x the weight of a 25g bottle cage
For ultimate weight saving, empty the water out - you can then still ride with the carbon/alu/whatever cage and bottle to match your frame paintjob, but without the weight penalty ! 8)0
