Time Clipless Pedals

Morning all,
I'm considering replacing my Shimano M324 single sided SPDs for something new as I'm starting to get a little sick of struggling to find the SPD side when I set off. I've been looking at the Time models because they're supposedly a bit more knee friendly and, although I don't have any history of knee problems, they do sometimes ache after a ride. I also like the idea of having something to stand on if I need to go unclipped on a really tricky section, but understand that there's never going to be a lot of grip from my Specialized Comp shoes.
The main contenders look like:
Z Control
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=25492
Roc Atac
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=25491
But I'd be interested to know what people thought of them and whether Crank Brothers Smarty/Candy might be a better choice.

I run ATAC Aliums on both MTB and commuter and have just bought a set of ROCs for my soon-to-be-acquired road bike. I'm happy with them but don't have anything to compare them to.
However, if you're buying them at the moment, I would suggest Merlin over CRC as CRC don't seem to have anything in stock whereas Merlin are the same price and actually have some stock!

Cheers Underscore, I'll probably wait until the end of the month anyway as I've already bought a new bike and a workstand this month, so need to limit my impulsive bike spending a little
This must be what it's like for women with shoes.... :?0 -
I used SPD's for years but recently got some Crank Bros on my Stumpjumper so thought I would give them a go.
So far, so good. The clipping in and out is very easy and there seems to be a lot more float than with SPD's so my knees no longer ache after a long ride.
The ony issue is the bearings are starting to go and these are the cheap sealed ones you cannot service. So I will probably upgrade to some new serviceable ones.
Never tried Time so cannot comment. Also the single sided spds are a nightmare, tried them once never again.
Thanks

Everyone seems to say this about the Crank Bros pedals, which is probably the main thing putting me off. They're by far the best looking though0 -
That was my experience with Crank Bros. I had the candy pedals as standard on my bike and they lasted about 4 months before both were shot.
I replaced them with Time ROC S pedals and have been very happy with them.0 -
I've not ridden CB pedals myself, but I get the impression they're not very durable. CB are touted as being great with customer service and rebuilding pedals at race events, but you have to ask why aren't Shimano, Time and Look servicing pedals too?0

I'm tempted to go for the Z Controls for a bit more stability I reckon. They are a bit weighty, but I'm not racing, so not a huge issue.0
