Just wondering gear wise which forks here are the better quality and good for hardtail cross country use.

You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
Yep, 318 are lighter and better damped. Though are a couple of versions ie air, u turn.0
