Does anyone run a Langster with a rack? I am thinking of using one on mine but am a bit concerned about heel strike - I have a 58 so hopefully that will not be an issue....

I am planning on spoiling it completely by adding raceblades as well. :D

But it will still be the lightest commuter around.........I hope.

  • I used a pretty short rubbish singlie with panniers, and got rid of the slight heel strike just by tilting the rack a little to the rear of vertical. You should be fine - just make sure you get a rack that's good and adjustable - I use the tortec lightweight one from evans.
  • Thanks for that LiT it confirms what I was planning - is that the one on your Bowery?

Have a rack on mine - not the best for looks but can seriously and dangerously haul a huge amount of shopping, though Ally Pally farmer's market is interesting coming back up muswell hill.

Mine is also a 58, rack is http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/TorTec_Ultralite_Rear_Rack/5360018945/
    Fixed, commute: Langster 08, FCN6
Road : Aravis (byercycles) Shimano 105 triple
Hybrid: Trek 7.2 FX, unused / unloved

It is the one on the bowery, yes, and indeed was the one on gollum (montana trk al-somehting) which had an even shorter wheelbase (probably not the right word)...

    It's the one linked above.
  • Lol, Raceblades are ace! I have them fitted to my tRUSTy Langster and they (in my view) show everybody that I ride a fixie whatever the weather. I think they look kinda cool. As for the rack, I occasionally use a cheapo seatpost mounted jobbie for carrying a light load. Any heavier carrying duties are done on my MTB.
