Hi guys,
Looking to buy my first FS bike after hardtailing it.
My riding style is not aggressive and not looking to do much DH - looking more for trails and all day adventures! So something lightish, short travel, good for climbs/technical.
Budget is £1000 and so far the choices are:
Specialized FSRxc Comp 2009
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/fsrxc-comp-2009-mountain-bike-ec016447
Specialized Pitch FSR Comp 2009
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/pitch-fsr-comp-2009-mountain-bike-ec001433
Not sure of difference between Pitch and FSRxc, and am leaning toward:
Giant Trance X3 2008
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Giant_Trance_X3_2008/5360038750/
Recent reviews in What MB had the Boardman FS Comp, Spesh FSRxc 09 and Giant X3 as top 3.
I know I'm probably playing it safe, but thought Giant X3 would be best as I could upgrade slightly if needed.
ANy advice appreciated as I know you answer these type of posts ona daily basis!
Thanks in advance

The Pitch is more hardcore than the FSR XC, so more travel and more burly frame. The Trance is a nice bike, my brother has one, but I did find it a little heavy (probably not much different to other full sussers at that price though).
FSR has some very good reviews, but I didn't particularly fall for it when I tested one, so it's well worth trying them out and if you can find a Boardman, they look like great bikes.0 -
If you riding style is all mountain...the Pitch.
An awesome bike....Whyte 905 (2009)
Trek 1.5 (2009)
Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp (2007)0 -

Perhaps something in the 4in (100mm range) would be better? Mongoose Canaan Comp for example? Here's the 08 review: http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... =BRGENHOMEYou only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
