Yesss! ...A new PB

Managed 51m15s on the commute today, which is my best time ever. It's a pretty flat 14 miles so that's only an average of 16mph but a proper average, rather than one of those auto-pause "average-apart-from-when-I-wasn't-moving" type averages
And I haven't even fixed the misbehaving rear mech indexing yet. Like the title of that book says - it's not about the bike (although I'd add "within reason" to the end of that).
For the first time since I broke my arms in the summer I feel like I'm getting back to where I was before the accident.

Worst of both worlds this morning. Frosty and a southerly wind.0

Yes, Croydon to White City/Shepherds Bush.
Why? I'm nervous now.0 -

We've had them all week. Certainly yesterday and a good few other days over the last fortnight or so.
Average heart rate for this morning's journey was a good 10bpm higher than usual but perhaps the most important thing is that I know I was trying harder today. It was a concious effort.0 -
Sorry, it probably sounded a bit snippy, but I struggled into work (eastwards) this morning, one sprocket and often two below normal, and thought that might be why you did so well! Not that it matters though - you'll never get a 100% neutral day on which to scientifically time yourself.
What I do is add up the journeys there and back in terms of my top times. 51.30 is my best for the 14-mile round trip - about 16mph average which is pretty pleasing for central London.0 -
Did a PB last night as well. Not sure how long exactly as i recently smashed my computer after an underpass ice rink fall - however not clock watching has set me free.
Anyway - complete :!: :!: of a meeting yesterday from 9:30 to gone 19:00 so I was a) frustrated, b) hacked off with some of the comments made at the meeting and c) fuelled with more coffee than I would normally consume in a week. Didn't go down to get changed until 19:50 as I had things to finish off and I then had to take a slightly longer route - including a scary roundabout - as I didn't fancy some of my back-street shortcuts in Hackney or the roundabout underpass and secluded cycle track in Walthamstow at that time of night. Got home before 21:00Pain is only weakness leaving the body0 -
Yeah, it definitely felt quick today. I'm feeling it in my legs now but it's good.
I keep my journeys into work and my journeys home in completely separate folders in the software I use (Garmin Training Centre, I've got an edge 305) because I regard them separately.
The journeys home are slightly more uphill, more lights (due to one-way systems) and I'm never feeling as up-for-it as I am in the mornings (on a good day, anyway). I'll never do as well in that direction, I don't think.0 -
New PB for me tonight. 14.2 miles in bang on 50 mins. Average of 16.8mph.
That was heading SW but cant say i really noticed a wind. Thats with no stops, luckily living in the country i dont have to contend with any traffic lights.
My previous best was averaging 15.5 mph and just over 55 mins.
The other plus was there wasnt a massive increase in my HR (only went up on average 5bpm).
Chuffed but knackered!!0 -
