First ride for a bit...

It seems I have some festive gluttony to work off. I rode the same route (about 55km), on the same fixie in November and today. Although any comparison of times is ruined by an 8-minute stop at a rural level crossing, the HRM results are interesting.

Basically I stacked the graphs from the two rides in Photoshop and stretched one to register it to the other (i.e. the same feature is in the same place on each graph). This graph hack does rather ruin the quality, but you get the idea.

Any comments from knowledgeable people would be great. It seems to me that recovery in the green line (Today) takes longer and the HR does not get as low. Second, for sections of consistent effort, today's rate is consistently ~10bpm higher than a few month ago. This is not good news.

Anyone else formalise the race err, I mean ride to work?
blimey - bit windy / cold / wet innit? My blog is at http://www.lewismiller.info

That's pretty cool - though it does absolutely prove how your fitness has fallen away - most of us like to be able to kid ourselves a bit...

Its colder, you didn't go the same speed and you were not wearing the same clothing.

That can help you to continue to kid yourself. :D

Fitness falls away terrifyingly quickly. I was reading the other day that you can loose as much as 15% of Vo2 efficiency in 2 weeks...
