Bootleg Beatles are the best I've ever seen. The Counterfeit Stones were also good, although a bit more 'tongue in cheek'.
Sorry to hijack thread, but what about some silly tribute band names?
Two (real ones) to start off with:-
Fred Zeppelin

Bog Rolling Stones played a New Year gig by me, they were great value
Manic Street Sweepers would be a great tribute band name0 -
I know a guy who used to be in 'Mac Sabbath'
The Australian Pink Floyd are really good.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.
H.G. Wells.0 -
Have never seen any live but this fellow is playing at my mates wedding later this year.

Musical Box genesis tribute are more expensive to see than the real thing..Phil Collins is reputed to say of them. after their Lamb lie down show....We were never as good as that...Liverpool/Beatles Mathew Street Carnival is the best for some tacky name but good quality tribute bands if you want a freebie..Moses Gate in Farnworth Bolton has plenty of Rockbands tributes and their own website of whats on..jc0

proper tribute bands, the ones you can see in your local boozer are great. Wouldn't dream of paying 20 quid to see those well known ones
Me favourites around Newcastle are New Age Jam, The Clashed, 1977, the Rawmones
love a saturday night in the star on westgate road watching a tribute band0 -

Mark Radcliffe and Lard used to do that one, but that was about fourteen years ago on their night-time show, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're not a joke-thief.
What about Rage Against The Washing Machine?0 -
...there's a good band that plays at my local called Sham 69......all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...0
