Not too sure about the need to smash the windows on the front of the coach though. I was about 8 when I first saw it and thought my idea of sending the lightest bloke back to bring a few bars up to the front to ensure a better balance before him then going back to bring it back in larger amounts. I also thought that getting a few of the heavier blokes to stand on the bumper at the front would help but that they might have been too easily tempted to jump off should it get a bit dodgy.

There was no way of recovering the coach from where it was :?
So, yes I'd smash the rear windows out (glass is quite heavy), then get everyone to strip down to their undies and use their cloths to make a big lasso, and use that to put the gold up to the front of the couch. Now let someone off and start weighting the front of the couch until it's safe to unload everyone else and the gold. 8)
Then it's just a long walk home
