Dont bother with the smaller van.

I use my Vauxaul Vivaro fab van
Holds plenty of Complete bikes and your gear.
Carrys Two passengers and driver in comfort

Think you have your sums wrong a Small van only has Two seats
small back three bikes in parts where or how is the third person
going to fit or He/She taking the train.

IE Vauxaul Vivaro Renault Traffic and the Nissan Primstar all the same van
  • Small vans are fine, but you'll soon get fed up with it, go and buy something like a T4, Master, etc and simply fit it out with a shelf to put a bed on, I can easily get 4 bikes, two surfboards, all my kit and clothes for a weekend in it and still don't have to worry about tents.
    This is why!
  • for £500 its all i'll get ;)

    Anyways, i dont want/need a big van.

Then again, insurance on vans is stupid! It'd be cheaper to get a 4x4!

For £ 500 quid I wouldnt bother save your money
More chance of seeing you broken down and if you
brake down to many timnes in one year the Rescue services
    now charge.

Last 2 cars have been £500 or less. diesel and over 130,000miles...you just need to know what your actually looking for. The only reason i got rid was because i couldn't afford insurance and my flat.
With fords and pugs i can get 75% reduced parts too, so thats not an issue either.
  • Wee vans are crap. You'll get 2 bikes in if you're lucky and they'll just hit off each other all the way to wherever you're going.

Get a cheap car (mine cost £900 on ebay), a roof rack and a cpl of bike carriers.
Job done, and you get something that's much better to use on a day to day basis.

For 500 bats you could get an old Mondeo diesel estate. Fold the back seats down, black the rear windows out and bobs your mother's brother. Easy to maintain, reliable as owt and dirt cheap on the insurance.

Plus if needs be you could put it back to normal and ferry your mates round.
