Yeah, lovely things, I wear mine out every time I go out in the winter. Double it over like a beanie if it's really cold, swap it into a single layer bandana if you get too hot, stick it over your mouth if it's really bitter.

Top bit of gear - acts as a bit of a sweatband on climbs plus takes the chill off once you've got to the windy top. :D

Wouldn't worry about size, it's 1 size fits all, it's just a long tube of cloth.

I love my buffs. THe Polar one is the buff of champions, reason being you get the fleecy one with most of a normal buff attached. So, cut it in half, have a lovely warm fleece buff for the cold and a regular buff for wet weather. Score!

  • buffs are great, i have the chinese dragon one, great piece of kit, i went ages without one.

i just chuck it on my head under my lid on cold days, or wrapped round my mouth depending on whats coldest, or twist it to be a bandana when the helmet hair needs hiding
i spent all me money on whisky and beer!!!
  • Buffs are fab!

I have a grey camo one, a Welsh dragon one and for Christmas just gone was bought one with a reflective strip.

Worn as a beanie, bandana or round the neck and over my nose when it's been really cold!! brrrr!
  • this is like 1 big advert. You guys sure theyre that good?

I like wearing a hat. When its cold it keeps my head warm and when it gets too warm i take it off. its 1 size fits all too.

Hats are also good. Buffs can be hats but they're less good at it than hats are, because they aren't hats. But on the other hand, buffs can also be neck warmers or face warmers and hats aren't very good at that. That's the main reason they're so brilliant, the versatility.

Hats are good - but buffs are more versatile. You can wear them so many ways - worn as a wristband in the summer. Or over your chin when its really cold. Down over your ears again when its cold or just as a normal under the helmet.
I've even seen one worn as a makeshift mini skirt ! But you need to be a bit slim for that !

Agree. Got one this year and love it. At start of ride can have it up over head like a balaclava. As you warm up just pull it down to the neck. Slides down under the helmet and you can do it with one hand while riding.

Plus my kids love the bloopers vid..

I got one for xmas, best thing I got (well, nearly!)...

Great in bandana mode to cover your ears in the cold, pull it down to keep the chill off your neck.

Wondered how I ever got by without one during the winter.

    So simple, but so practical.

Always thought they were a bit expensive until I got one om Menorca for six quid about 3 years ago and ended up getting the wife and daughter a nice pink paisley pattern one and a powerpuff girls one, respectively...so not much of a saving there then!

  • i got a limited adition puffer '09 one =p tip:never leave a buff in with stinking socks (especially if they've been on for the entire 24 hours of an enduro) for 2 weeks, it will never be the same again. trust me, i know
  • I have the DHB Buff, it's an awesome item of sportswear
The other day I cycled to gym the temperature was -2ºC and the Buff was a blessing
I also use to cover my head under my helmet in summer, it helps absorb the perspiration, keeping the sweat out of my eyes

All I can say is never wear one using public transport while wearing a hoody, it could get you into a bucket of trouble..

I have a blue buff - its very old and it's been halfway round the world, up alpine peaks, and has faded to a sort of grey colour - better half wants me to buy a new one but its my lucky buff 8)
