My work place will be introducing this in March, Im gonna try and hold off till then to get a new bike, Now my understanding is I go in get a quote upto a grand, submit that at work and once approved I get a voucher for the store and I can spend that on anything ?
My point being here could I get 2 bikes ? Ideally I would love to convert the Yukon to a shopper and have 2 bikes for commuting as this year has shown me that things do go wrong and when parts fail its normally when shops are closed.
So can I do that or it is against the spirit of the scheme ?

You'd need to see what your employer's rules are. The scheme is for bikes that are primarily used for commuting to work - they might argue that given the limit is £1000 you ought to be able to buy a bike that won't have bits falling off for that amount...
Good luckPain is only weakness leaving the body0 -
You can probably buy as many as you like. For example, you might need a bike to ride to the train station and lock, and a bike the other end to get to work.
I got two bikes through the scheme, if that helps.0 -

No, there is a limitation on what you can buy. Specifically, you have to buy what is on the quote ('coz it all belongs to the company so they have to know what they own) and the quote has to be for things that are used for commuting - bike(s), clothes, lights, etc..gb155 wrote:My point being here could I get 2 bikes ? I've seen it said that you could buy two bikes - for instance, if you do a mixed mode commute and need a bike for each end of your train journey - but I think that you might have a job arguing that you need two bikes just in case one breaks...

I don't know what this quote business refers to. On our scheme, you just said how much you wanted, received a voucher for said amount, then went to Halfords and took your pick.0

With Cyclescheme (a particular "brand" of cycle to work), you get a quote from the bike shop, tell cyclescheme and they issue a voucher naming the shop, the bike and the price.0

I got mine through Cycle2Work, but at no stage did I not feel I couldn't get another bike. I only had a voucher for £600, but Evans in Mcr where so blaze (??) about it, that I got the impression I could get 2 bikes.
Dunno wether that helps. My cycle blog at www.biking2work.co.uk and check out www.fightbaddriving.co.uk.0 -

Whatcha gettin'?
You can buy a summer and winter bike on C2W.....or anything you want. I spent a load of my voucher on parts to build up another bike and upgrade the C2W bike.0 -
im really hoping my work agree. i have pushed everyone at work to show an interest but not much interest from other parts of the company
IF i get a bike through the scheme i cant get the VAT savings from the company i work for, so does this effect things much?
got my eyes on a trek 1.7, which obviously wont always be used to commute to work lol0 -

Being serviced today, extra parts (guards, rack etc) arriving Thurs, I now hope to pick it up on Thurs evening
The bike itself was about £390, then I have put together about £220's worth of gear to go with it! Mudguards, pannier rack, rack-pack, water/windproof jacket, water/windproof gloves, lock & cable, light brackets, pump, innertubes...
Very excited!0 -
My company have finally opened up their cyclescheme for the next month so I put in my application with quote today.
Tested out a couple of bikes from the LBS in Crediton (lovely guys and girls there) and while I thought I would end up going for a Trek racing bike I have plumped for the Trek 7.5fx wsd.
Felt right the moment I got onto it, saddle just right, didn't feel too big or too small, light manoeravble....a bit like Goldilocks....it was just right. slight irony was the bike I actually test rode was the model down from the one I will hopefully be getting, so it should be pretty good.
I look forward to being able to cycle into work now without feeling as though I have cycled from Exeter to London and back in one go!Officers don't run, it's undignified and panics the men0 -
