Has anyone used the new Specialized BG Fitting Service?

I was informed by a fellow clubmate that my saddle was too high as he could see my pelvis 'rocking' - this made me realise that I know virtually nothing about correct bike-set-up!

Has anyone used the new Bike fit service offered by Specialized and, if so, does it compare to other services such as Cyclefit Bioracer etc and is it worth the £120?
let all your saddles be comfy and all your rides less bumpy....

  • I got a fitting at RaceScene in Barnsley.very thorough and very professional. That said, if you have a patient friend, a spirit level and a tape measure go to www.competitivecyclist.com, they have a quite indepth fit calculator online.
Unless you've got freaky body dimensions or a specific issue you just can't get on top off, give it a go

I can't comment on any others, but I got refitted for my bike using the BG Fit at Sigma Cycles. It took pretty much 3 hours and was very thorough, finding a 1cm leg length discrepancy (cured by cleat placement), high foot arches (causing hot foot as they weren't supported properly) and foot angles that were corrected by varus wedges.

On top of that, more appropriate bars and better stem fitting, and I don't think I've ever spent better time or money on cycling - I've had better power for effort, my legs work up and down like pistons rather than moving my knee in a figure-of-eight, and I feel I can spend the whole day in the saddle.

Sigma are highly recommended, as is Lee, the fit specialist, who was personally recommended by Dr Andy Pruitt, who invented the BG line of equipment and is a specialist in biomechanics.

I really can't recommend the experience and the results highly enough. I'm also pretty sure you'd struggle to get the same results by yourself, as there's a lot of measuring flexibility, watching joint movement while riding and expertise in finding solutions to the problems identified.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Whilst I haven't had a 'BG fit' I did have a fitting session with Paul Hewitt (a whopping £50!), none of the technological gubbins but the same result - a revelation in comfort on the bike.

    I would second that recommendation :D:D .
I went to Paul Hewitts for a fitting session and I couldn't believe how far out some of the settings were

The bike was so much more comfortable after it was set up properly.
    Well worth the money!

    Gary.
Oh and I feel like I've been raped by an Orangutan  And I've got legs like Girders

I too went for a fitting with Paul and likewise turned out to be quite revealing, measurements wise.
