I am trying to fit my 10sp 105 cassette on to my new campagnolo wheels which are fitted with a shimano freewheel, (which says 10 sp only) and although the supplier says I dont need any spacers the lock ring won't hole the cassette tight when tightened fully.

Fitting a 2mm spacer behind the cassette shifts the cassette out from the wheel by a couple of mm and works, but should this be required and is this a common problem?

Well given that it states that a 10spd shimano cassette will fit, it shouldn't be required! However lots of combos seem to need a spacer. As long as you can index the gears i wouldn't worry.
  • Thankyou for your words of encouragement. I had to the adjust the indexing slightly, but I expected to make a small change anyway.

As one of the other threads suggested I may have upset the gods by putting shimano gears on a campagnolo wheel.
