My friend has a late 90's GT Aggressor (est. 1997) with a Truvativ Isoflow square tapered chainset.

We think that the BB that has been fitted is a little too long, as theres quite a gap between the BB shell and the chainset, resulting in the largest chainring being impossible to select.

Does anyone know what size BB should be used? Quite a few total length sizes on the square tapered BB's on CRC.
Pretty sure is a 68mm shell. Will get my friend to measure. Would be near impossible to get a total length measurement with the cranks still on though

well you can measure the shell easily enough- and the axle lenth will be in the bb its self. the axle length depends on the crankset fitted.

what are you actually wanting to do?

We want to replace the current BB with one at the correct length. The one fitted now is far too long.
We think its just old stock supplied and fitted along with the Truvativ chainset by the bike shop after they couldn't fit the HT ll BB and chainset that was orginally bought for the bike (Threads needed chasing and they didn't have the tool)

the correct axle lengths for the crank set can be found on the tech section of the sram webby.

but it will most likely need a 113mm axle.
