Morning All
Hope y'allcool and groovy
Me and my girlfriend are off to Bala in Wales next week for a week of riding, going out to Coed y Brenin & Betws y Coed
I wanted to get some new tyres as mine are wearing a bit thin. I've got a set of Maxxis Ignitor 2.1's on at the moment and was thinking of getting a pair of 2.35's for a bit more grip then wondered about a pair of Swampthings instead :?
What tyres would people recommend?

ignitors are a good trail centre tyre, but i would trade up for the 2.35 size (i run the lust ones tubeless) great for the conditions you will face.0

I'd say try the rampage from panaracer, superb tyre. Very fast rolling but awesome grip.0

Cheers Dave, I'd been thinking of going for the 2.35's as been struggling for grip with the 2.1's in the winter mud of the north downs way. I'd been using the 2.1's mainly for the summer and been to lazy to change them over
Will be running them tubeless with Stans No Tires, how much gloop would you recommend?0 -
I really like the Nevegals, since they can do basically anything... Not the fastest or the grippiest but you can ride the same trail in snow, rain or dust without worrying too much, which if you're going on a cycling trip is definately a good thing. There's plenty of tyres that beat them at one particular thing but for dealing with the unknown they're excellent. And tough, too, which helps.Uncompromising extremist0

I guess it depends on your riding style but i was using Panaracer 1.95 trail blasters on my Klein hardtail all last year on several trips to wales (Afan, Gorlic, Coed Y Brenin, Marin, etc) with no issues, never had a puncture so I was well happy. I guess it dpends on how hard you want to hit the lumps and bumps, I'm not that hard core and will pick my route and will scarifice down hill blasting for up hill performance thus I run the tyres quite hard, which was useful when I first did the Marin and Gorlic.
Would be using 1.5 hard packs if i could find them, ahhh the good old days....This is why!0 -

I too run nevegals front and rear, a good all round tyre. I've not ridden the mid and north wales trail centres, but there is usually very little gloopy mud at Afan or cwmcarn and assume most purpose built trails would be the same.--
Burls Ti Tourer for Tarmac, Saracen aluminium full suss for trails0 -

Sounds like a plan
I had a Kenda tyre blow out on me me with rather painful consequences so have steered clear of them since then though the Nevegals keep being mentioned, have also been recommended the Geax Loco Lobo but dont really know anything about them. Hmmm :roll:0 -
2 Oz of Stans sealant per tyre - thats about 60ml to me and you.....
I'm using Bontrager Mud X at the moment - great for mud, but the Wales trails are well drained usualy...... still, I like em!0 -
Well I've gone for a set of the Loco Lobo's so looking forward to getting them on the bike and hitting the trails next week. Roll on Wales
Cheers for your help guys.0
